Aston Villa - picking up where they left off. 8/16/2009 8:24:00 PM

To say a team hasn't missed a beat during the off-season is normally a compliment.  But for the millions of Villa fans out there it is all too true.  Opening in Villa Park, losing 2-0 to Wigan in, let's face it, a game that coulf have easily been 5-0?  The transfer window is still open for two weeks.  Hopefully its see you Nickey Shorey & thanks for the memories Curtis Davies.

Oh yeah, and Ashley Young - your two feet aren't going to beat six.  Not the first time, not the second time, and still won't work the sixth time.

Randy Lerner, I can't sit through a year of the Villans and the Browns being barely competitive.  I've grown to expect this much from the Browns, but not Villa!

I think they may be where Spurs were a couple seasons ago after selling off Carrick. Delph is largely unproven, and Beye is has more bad moments than good. I think MON will do a good job if he keeps his job and finishes above 8th/9th

Loosing Laursen is going to be the biggest setback that Villa will face in recent years. The back four have been completely out of sorts since he was injured and ultimately retired.

Aston Villa, in my opinion, is lacking a playmaker on there right wing. They need to go out and get someone on loan, or buy a good right winger. Lot of worthy playmakers on the right side available...and Electrics Spurs have one that they don't want to let go. Maybe Aston Villa should go after Gio, once this kid starts getting more playing time he will be tough to stop. To much pace, all he needs to work on is being a bit more physical.

Maybe they don't want to let him go because Harry rates him? Who is he going to displace right now anyways? Modric? Lennon? If David Bentley can't take Lennon's spot, I seriously doubt GDS can. He has probably been the best player in a Spurs shirt over the last year, Gio definitely has his work cut out for him. Although I've read that he is not exactly a model professional, but I'll leave it at that.

I would really like to see O'Neill play Carew and Heskey up top and pull Gabby back to RM. Then Milner can play more of a CM role and let Petrov be the holding MF.

Thye might just have to resort to playing 3 up top to make up for all the goals the back 4 are going to give up this season. We'll see in about 30 min when they kick off at Anfield.

Things are not well in Merseyside these days. If it wasn't for Stoke the Reds and Blues would have a combined 0 points.
