Out of the madness and into e-print

Any riders out there? 10/6/2008 5:32:00 PM

I was curious if any other UL members own and ride motorcycles.  I grew up liking them and the culture, but my family never owned a bike.

I bought my bike this past April and love it.  It's an 04 Honda VTX1300 S.  It is silver/titanium and bought it used with cobra pipes.  I have since added some chrome pieces as well.  (Will attach some pics later).

I also love the harley look too.  I have already been eyeing my next bike.  From going to the local harley shop with my wife I have narrowed it down the to fat boy or the Softail Heritage.  Similar bikes, but I like the more aggressive fat boy look. And I like the bags and sissy bar and such that is already added in to the Heritage pricetag.

So any of you others have any bikes to show off?

Nothing to show off... I ride a Suzuki Marauder 800. With gas prices, I have been riding to work more often. I love the HOV lanes! However, check this link... I can dream!

Harley-Davidson VRSC VRSCDX

See avatar pic, not a Harley but what I like. Only Harley I would consider is the V-Rod.

I don't ride, I just ask all of you to be careful at all times! We had a motorcycle that was at a stoplight and a Semi pulled behind him and when the light went green, the semi forgot motorcycle was in front of him and went and ran over the motorcylce killing a 19 year old and his g/f as it dragged the two about a mile. The truck driver stopped when he say helmet roll out from under in mirror. Parents had bought his bike 2 days before the accident. Very sad, so just be careful!

yes there is definitely an implied risk with riding. You can't control the other drivers out there, but you can lessen your risk with some defensive driving and driving safe. Mistakes are just much less forgiving. Though, knowing these risks, I still wouldnt give it up.

What a tragedy! A lady that I know, her son picked his new bike at the dealership. On his way home, he got hit and killed by a vehicle merging from the middle lane to the right in order to enter a gas station. The cops called her to tell of the accident, but she told him it wasn't her son since he didn't own a bike. She had no idea that he purchased one. Just sad...

Also, according to the MD Motorcycle Safety Found. - 80% of accidents are caused by riders themselves.

Chidman I think you have that wrong I seriously debut 80% of accidents are caused by the riders themselves. Most accidents are caused by stupid drives that don't take the time to look for bikes. And as Jmustang said even giving all the risk I still wouldn't give it up for the world. Even with my recent accident I will ride again just will be a little while.

Analyzer52 - That's what they said, when I took the MD Motorcycle Safety course, about a life time ago. If it's true or not, I can't say really.

I say we create our own UL "Wild Hogs" group! We start on the east coast and we pick up everyone on the way to the west coast! Who is bringin' the XBOX?
